Organization
Making it work
The Alliance is comprised of three main groups that serve various roles within the organization:
- IBACOS, a research and development firm specializing in U.S. residential construction, leads and manages the day-to-day activities of the Alliance.
- Members, who are innovative homebuilders from across the U.S., help define, shape, and guide the core work of the Alliance by providing input during the planning stages or by participating in specific research projects.
- Sponsors are companies both inside and outside the homebuilding industry who share the vision of accelerating the discovery and adoption of homes that are more safe, healthy, durable, comfortable, energy efficient, and environmentally responsible. Sponsors offer resources such as materials or funding needed to conduct research projects.
Although all parties are invited to come together for an annual meeting, the Alliance communicates largely through this web-based community. This online community allows everyone to conveniently share information and ideas without the restrictions of distance, time, or financial resources.
Thereserachalliance.org will grow and evolve into a central source of information on leading research in the homebuilding industry - a one-stop shop for members to quickly and easily find answers to their research questions and for the general public to learn about the benefits of energy-efficient, high quality homes that give more™.
Whether sharing information online or in person, the Alliance will conduct all of its business operations in accordance with the following principles:
- We will openly seek the most appropriate technologies and processes to discover and define Best Practices in Homebuilding™, driven by the intent of finding the best practical solutions that offer benefit to both the homeowner and the builder.
- We will invite appropriate parties to help develop and refine our agenda, and we will invite specific participants to be involved in the research projects based solely on the purpose and needs of each individual area of research.
- We will share information and research findings as openly as possible, while respecting the confidentiality of the individual organizations involved.
- We will conduct our activities ethically based on the following credo - "Actions speak louder than words."
- We will invest all funding and resource commitments into the Alliance research and management activities; the Alliance has not been created to make a profit but to make a difference.
