Approach
Following the Innovation Pathway
The innovation pathway is a constant cycle of discovery that begins with research. Through this process, the Alliance guides Best Practices in Homebuilding from research to reality. First, by identifying systems that offer the greatest potential for improving energy efficiency without compromising the standards set for safety, health, durability, comfort, and environmental sensitivity. Then, by weighing the practicality and feasibility of implementing those technologies.
Technologies that consistently perform to our targets in research homes then move to the demonstration phase of the discovery process, where Alliance builders get directly involved in constructing prototype homes for more long-term testing and evaluation. If successful in its findings, the Alliance moves to next level – developing and supporting the builder as a lead adopter in building these homes on a community and production scale.
Overall, the Alliance is built on sharing. Our success depends on it. While respecting individual confidentialities, we encourage our builder partners to share findings as appropriate – with other members, with sponsors, and with the general public. Because through sharing, we can move an industry, and change the world.
