About us
The Best Practices Research Alliance is a collaborative research and development initiative founded by IBACOS and aligned with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building America program. The overall goal of the Alliance is to help accelerate progress toward making green, high-performance homes an everyday reality.
Three main groups form the Alliance:
- Innovative homebuilders and developers of all sizes throughout the U.S. help define, shape, and guide the core work of the Alliance by providing input during the planning stages, participating in specific research projects and engaging in research-related discussions through our online community.
- Industry suppliers and other sponsors share the vision of accelerating green, high-performance homebuilding and offer resources, such as materials or funding, needed to conduct research projects.
- IBACOS, a homebuilding research and quality consulting firm, leads and manages the day-to-day activities.
Together, we’re focused on two questions:
- What does it take for today’s good homebuilding companies to become great, green homebuilding companies? (our Blueprint program)
- In 2020, what will a green home be and how will it be delivered? (our Lab Home program)
