On November 2 and 3, the fifth Alliance Annual Meeting brought sixty of the homebuilding industry’s thought leaders to Pittsburgh for networking and idea exchange on the topics members told us were most critical to them—topics like preparing for future changes to building codes to marketing energy efficient homes. Links to all the Annual Meeting presentations can be found below.
Our attendees represented 18 homebuilder members and more than a dozen sponsors and guests. Special thanks go out to our guest presenters: Dean Potter of K. Hovnanian Homes, Jim Petersen of PulteGroup, Alan Laing of Laing & Associates, and Beth Callender of Greenhaus.
To make the experience more collaborative, this year’s meeting offered more opportunities for attendees to network and interact, and introduced cooperative exercises and discussion rather than sticking to a straight presentation format.

We’re still gathering and analyzing all the insights that came out of this year’s activities and sessions, but a few themes emerged. Some builders don’t feel adequately prepared for Energy Star 3, which will come into effect in 2012; communication of standards among builder divisions and to trades continues to be a problem for some; and builders want more information on how to effectively train their sales teams to market high performance homes.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing event highlights, boil-ups of our interactive breakout discussions, an attendee “yearbook”, and other follow-up materials. Watch this page for updates. In the meantime, use the individual links below to access information on all the presentations, including complete slides.
We’re in the process of developing our plan for 2012, so we need your feedback on our Annual Meeting survey. Capturing your reactions will help us understand what worked and what we need to do better, and assist us in planning for the upcoming year.
Stop back soon for more meeting highlights and resources.
