In late 2010, IBACOS, S&A Homes and more than 40 industry partners completed construction on a near zero energy research house in Pittsburgh, with the goal of finding practical solutions to delivering zero energy homes on the production scale. For a little over a year, we've been collecting data from 300+ sensors to answers to questions like:

• Which of the three HVAC air distribution systems we’re testing works best in a high performance enclosure – with air leakage equivalent to a Post-It note?
• Will a sub-slab loop deliver energy efficiency and comfort as effectively as vertical wells with a Ground Source Heat Pump – saving thousands in construction costs?
• What, if any, durability issues arise in a really low energy house?
